Character update
February 6, 2009, 1:08 pm

Well, I thought I should update the people still reading this stuff on what I have achieved since my last ‘real’ post about my druid, which was the ‘ding 80′ back in november.
Some stuff you might have seen from the mammoth pictures or videos, if you watched them, but not all.

As far as raiding goes, I have personally cleared Sarth 10 and 25 without drakes, Naxx 10, and Naxx 25 up to and including Sapphiron, still miss Malygos and Sarth+Drakes.
I’m having 3 T7/25 and 1 T7/10-piece, making me have the 4-piece feral set bonus, which is kinda awesome.
I cleared all but Heroic Ahn’Kahet or whatever it’s called, got my bronze drake from heroic Culling of Stratholme, and am happily trying to farm my raven mount and my white hawkstrider nearly daily.

Raiding goes meh right now, I was originally taken as third tank into our guild’s raids, but my total bear time gets limited to 4 horsemen, as a tank in the back for the range ones.

If I miss some important stuff, just feel free to ask, I just wrote this in a bunch of minutes, which is why I’m missing achievement screenshots and all that stuff.

The Bear looking for help

The Bear looks for blogger friends to spread the word that he still does live to those that just have his feedburner feed, which seems to have stopped working for him.

So, I humbly, most pathetically ask that, if possible, my fellow blogger friends please make a teeny, tiny mini-post just mentioning that Bear is a dumbass and has a broken Feed, and if they are still interested in getting my posts, folks need to please, pretty-please visit the site and subscribe to the new feed.

After that I just thought that hey, I could help him spread the word, although nearly nobody reads what I write :)

mammoths: now with falling immunity

Thanks again to Stop for the post title.

After it came up in BA chat today, I tested if my mammoth would still help me survive a fall, and as it seems, it does so even better than before!
Check for proof: Video

Edit: As it seems, the mobs kinda evadebug when I’m in aggro range of them, they only attack if I get into melee range:
Another edit: It seems as if that was just those mobs, the other ones in the area attacked me regularly.

Bear enchants, part 2
January 5, 2009, 2:37 pm

Part 1

The List, part 2:

Shoulder:
Heavy Borean Armor Kit: 18 stamina, leatherworking
Greater Inscription of the Pinnacle: 37 stamina20 dodge-rating, 15 def-rating, exalted Sons of Hodir

Back:
Major Agility: 22 agi, enchanting

There is no real choice here as a feral tank.

Wrist:
Expertise: 15 expertise, enchanting
Major Stamina: 40 stamina, enchanting

No real choice here, if you’re no LW take the stamina one, if you’re a LW, take your fur lining.

Gloves:
Heavy Borean Armor Kit: 18 stamina, leatherworking
Major Agility: 20 agi, enchanting
Precision: 20 hit-rating, enchanting
Expertise: 15 expertise-rating, enchanting

This is more a question of your personal preference.
Personally I would prefer the agi-enchant, but the armor kits are good, too. If you lack in threat, get the hit or expertise one.

Rings:
Stamina: 24 stamina, enchanters only

Feet:
Heavy Borean Armor Kit: 18 stamina, leatherworking
Icewalker: 12 hit+crit-rating, enchanting
Superior Agility: 16 agi, enchanting
Tuskarr’s Vitality: 15 stamina + minor run speed, enchanting

Again, your personal preference.
Armor kit and Tuskarr’s Vitality are nearly the same, I would recommend the Vitality one between those two, but maybe you only want avoidance or threat.

Addition to part 1:

As mmo-champion states there will be a new weapon enchant, Titanguard,
that grants 75 stamina to a weapon. This completely obsoletes all weapon enchants I posted in the last post.
Edit: It seems as if the enchant got removed from the PTR in the most recent build, according to mmo-champion it got nerfed to 50 stamina before. Thanks to Amandrel for the hint.

Please leave comments, mail me, correct my mistakes, or just give advice on how to improve this list, or if you find new enchantments that are better.

Bear enchants, part 1
December 10, 2008, 1:05 pm

Karthis posted about glyphs and his gear wishlist,
Flyv posted about gems and BoE gear, and
Kalon posted about Emblem and T7-gear, so I thought I could write something about enchants for bears.

Part 2

At first I have to say that I don’t rate all this stuff by numbers and/or lists, that it just represents my personal
opinion of all that stuff. I may give some more theorycrafting-related examples or comparisons, especially when comparing
enchants that grant def-rating with ones without it, but don’t think I’ll do it all the time.

The List:

Head:
Heavy Borean Armor Kit: 18 stamina, leatherworking
Arcanum of the Stalwart Protector: 37 stamina, 20 def-rating, revered Argent Crusade
Arcanum of the Defender: 16 def-rating, 17 dodge-rating, revered Keepers of Time

Going by numbers, the Arcanum of the Stalwart Protector wins. In my personal opinion, too.
If you compare the two arcanums, you have 37 stamina against about 0.4% dodge (not including DR), where the stamina just wins.
I even think that the armor kit is better than the Keepers’ arcanum, because 18 stamina is nothing to sneeze at.

Chest:
Heavy Borean Armor Kit: 18 stamina, leatherworking
Powerful Stats: 10 to all stats, enchanting
Greater Defense: 22 def-rating, enchanting

You may ask why the Super Health enchant is missing in that list, and that’s simply
because the armor kit grants more health as a feral (in numbers: 18 sta*10*1.2*1.25*1.06=286.2 hp, and that’s without Kings).
This time, the choice is much harder, but personally I prefer the stats enchant, because it grants more avoidance. If you
still miss stamina for surviving those hard-hitting bosses or just are there to soak mana like nothing else, go for the armor kit.

Legs:
Heavy Borean Armor Kit: 18 stamina, leatherworking
Frosthide Leg Armor: 55 stamina, 22 agility, leatherworking

There is no real choice in here, get yourself a decent leg armor (if you’re no LW and the Frosthide one is too expensive, go for the
Jormungar one.

Weapon:
Accuracy: 25 hit and crit rating, enchanting
Lifeward: proc for 140-160 self heal, enchanting
Mongoose: 120 agi and 2% haste proc, enchanting
Major Agility: 35 agi, enchanting

This is more a question of your personal preference.
If you need more threat, go for Accuracy. If you mostly do offtanking or instance-tanking (mob packs, more than 1 mob at a time),
go for Mongoose. If you’re single target (main tanking), the numbers vary, some say Mongoose is better, some say Agility is better.
If you want to rely on a proc that grants more avoidance, go for Mongoose, otherwise go for Agility, as it is more reliable.

Next time I hope I’ll handle the other missing bear enchants (if I’m not too lazy).

Please leave comments, mail me, correct my mistakes, or just give advice on how to improve this list, or if you find new enchantments that are better.
